Our annual family chili cook-off and costume party happened this past Sunday. It’s a family dinner GoodGrandma℠ looks forward to all year. This year we had three different chili’s, cornbread muffins (that didn’t work, oh well), salad, veggie tray, and five different flavored cream-cheese cake rolls. However, the best part of dinner this year was Kiersten’s queso dip. We asked Kiersten if she would share the recipe (See recipe below).

In addition to dinner, we had a chance to try out our Halloween costumes. Papa was a good sport and dressed up as Bert from Mary Poppins. We had a large variety of characters, fat Thor, Buzz Lightyear and other Toy Story characters, a Minion, the Beast with all his Beauties, and zombies. And a GoodGrandma, Blue as a dragon from How to Train Your Dragon, and characters from Disney’s Descendants. As well as other Halloween costumes and characters. I didn’t know who the Descendants were and had to be educated by Willow (age 4) about them. They are pretty cool! It was a great night of festivities, food, and fun.

Papa Rich and Grandma Colleen want to wish you and your grandkids a very safe and happy Halloween. Make a memory. 🎃
Kiersten’s Savory Queso Recipe
- One block Velveeta cheese (32 oz.)
- One large jar Pace Salsa (24 oz. and medium heat)
- One large can no-bean chili (25 oz.)
Add some crushed red pepper to give it a little kick! Chop up the Velveeta into cubes and layer it into the crockpot with the salsa and chili. Add additional seasoning to your liking. I suggest salt, garlic, and onion powder. Heat until melted and desired temperature. Serve with your favorite tortilla chips.
