Technically, autumn begins on September 22. Many people consider Labor Day to be the end of summer and beginning of fall. I think of autumn as September, October, and November. And autumn is my favorite seasonβ€”by far. By fall, I’m tired of the scorching heat and ready to enjoy the temperate weather and, later in fall, light jacket weather. Where I live, there are lots of deciduous trees with leaves that change colors and eventually fall to the ground. Beautiful! I love the way the world looks with the angle of the sun in autumnβ€”the blue skies with the low, slanting, golden light. There are lots of fun things to do in autumn with the grandkids.

  • Take a walk together in the nice weather
  • Go fruit (e.g., apple) picking
  • Enjoy the leavesβ€”make a pile and jump in, but, “never jump into a pile of leaves with a wet sucker.” – It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
  • Go to a pumpkin patch
  • Try to find your way through a corn maze
  • Attend a fall festival
  • Make a fall craft

Make a memory with the grandkids and enjoy the very best season of the year! πŸ‚
