Have you ever owned any vinyl records? Do you remember the name or the album or the single? My first vinyl record was a 45 RPM single by the Beatles, with “She Loves You” on one side and “I Want to Hold Your Hand” on the other. I was 10 years old, and I played left-handed air guitar (ala Paul McCartney) while singing it over and over again.

My first vinyl album I can remember was the Mamas and the Papas, featuring “Monday, Monday,” which I played until it wore out.

When I was about 21, I moved to an 8-track in my car, playing the Doobie Brothers 8-track tape over and over again (China Grove!). Then it was cassettes. And then it was CDs. Now, I subscribe to Apple Music, so that literally any song is just a click or two away.

But, we’ve come full circle, with retro lovers back to buying vinyl records. They enjoy vinyl’s analog imperfection that adds warmth and crackle.

My how times have changed! Grandparents, tell us, what was your first vinyl record?
