Reason to Celebrate ~ Banana Bread

National Banana Bread Day

Our grandson, Connor, loves to cook. While visiting, I asked if he would mind making us some delicious banana bread for National Banana Bread Day. He was such a good sport. He even let me take some pictures, while dad shot some video. Who knows, maybe this will be Chef Connor’s first cooking segment?

Banana Bread Recipe

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup mashed bananas
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup nuts (optional)

Soften butter. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and beat. Add bananas, milk, and lemon juice and mix well. Stir in dry ingredients. Add nuts (optional). Bake in well-greased loaf pan at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Makes 1 loaf.

Thank you, Connor for being our chef of the day, and a special thanks to Connor’s adorable assistant, Hannah. She’s a helpful little sister. Our GoodGrandma IDEA of the day, go bake with your grandkids or have them bake for you! #nationalbananabreadday #getbaking #chefconnor #awesomegrandson #yum #bananabread
