Hello, my dears. How are you all doing? Got the grandkids sent back to school safely, I’m hoping? I don’t know how you feel about carpooling, but I LOVED IT! I know grandparents who are relied upon to help their children get their children to school and other places. I liked taking the kids, because I could learn so much about their day and get a feel for the friends they were “hanging out” with, and sometimes when they thought I wasn’t listening, I would find out some secrets! Yea! It beats, asking them, “How was school?” “Fine.” The end. Anyway, I hope all is well with you all. I am very proud of the active role many GoodGrandmas play in the lives of their children and grandchildren.

I know I am so late talking about Halloween books, and I apologize. With a husband who has been ailing for the past six months, it’s challenging to find time to do much else except tend to his care. Please forgive. πŸŽƒπŸ“™

Even late, if you can check out or purchase for your Halloween collection, a book called Mrs. McMurphy’s Pumpkin by Rick Walton, I think you will enjoy it. The pictures are so detailed and colorful; they will get the attention of your grandchildren, and the faces on the pumpkin are just a l i t t l e scary. Just what they love unless they scare easily. Maybe be careful under the age of 2nd Graders.

Mrs. McMurphy lives on a farm, and around Halloween time, she finds a pumpkin at her front door, who mutters (in your scariest voice), “My mouth is here. I speak to you. When my teeth are here, I’LL EAT YOU!” Spectacularly spooky, but you will love the spunkiness of Mrs. McMurphy, who politely puts him out in the garden shed. However, the next day, and the next day, until Halloween, the pumpkin returns, encroaching even further inside her house. Even though she has set him afloat down the river and shipped him off the to the North Pole! Each morning, he returns, and he has something else on his creepy little face, and makes the same threat. But, not to worry! At the end of the book, Mrs. McMurphy, still being very polite, handles that persistent, scary, and rude pumpkin in just the way we would hope. Very satisfying to have a female protagonist who is independent, capable, and smart. I think you will like it.

Happy Halloween, my friends! Thanks for checking by, and thanks for so much for the good you do for children. πŸ‘΅πŸ»πŸ§‘πŸ’‘
