What’re you dressing up as for Halloween? Isn’t it fun to think up, create, and plan out your Halloween costume? In, It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, Lucy says, “A person should always choose a costume that is in direct contrast to her own personality,” and then precedes to put on a witch costume. Lol! It’s exciting for kids to dress up and be something different, scary, funny, or imaginary for a day. GoodGrandma℠ has a few ideas and examples from over the years.

Pumpkin Costumes

We bought pumpkin costumes and used them for years and still have them today! If anyone wants to dress up as a pumpkin, we got you covered, literally.

Characters

This is a favorite! Dress-up as a character from a movie, TV show, or personality in the media. You can get really creative, like my son did last year. Andrew decided to be Conor McGregor, a UFC fighter, for Halloween. He bought a tan shirt and Grandma Connie tightened the shirt and added shoulder pads to make it more muscular. Then we printed out pictures of McGregor’s tattoos on iron-on paper and put them on the shirt. He also made a UFC belt to wear. It was a pretty legit costume.

Recycled Dance Costumes

After years and years of dance recitals and hours and hours of rehearsals, we have accumulated quite a few dance outfits! These make great Halloween costumes, and man, they are fun to use as dress-up sessions at Grandma’s.

Additional Costume Ideas

Games, animals, traditional Halloween characters, creatures, time periods, food; Seriously, the choices are limitless. One year, Andrew decided to be Santa Claus! He was so excited when he came home from Trick or Treating! He said people thought his costume was so cool that they game him extra candy. We definitely got our money’s worth out of that costume. Andrew wore it additional Halloween’s, at Christmastime, and even used it for school spirit and holiday assemblies.

Have a good time Trick or Treating, be safe, and be creative when dressing up!
