Grandkids & Your Energy Level

Let’s be honest, sometimes our grandkids can be exhausting! We love them, but somedays it’s nice when they leave. Just kidding or am I? They are so fun to have over and do activities with, and it’s also nice for them to take a break at Grandma’s house and just relax. I know sometimes my kids want to go to my mothers, Grandma Yoo-Hoo’s, just to get away from their everyday routine. When she has them over, Grace likes to watch a scary movie and snuggle on the couch. Logan likes to take his video games and have Grandpa watch him play. He also loves to talk about what he is doing, and Grandpa will listen, when no one at home does. πŸ˜‰ Jack loves to build legos and race car tracks.

My mother was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma about 7 years ago. My mother had to adjust to her new circumstances, and so did the kiddos. At the beginning while she was going through chemo they couldn’t be with her at all. They had to rely on talking with her on the phone. She is now in remission and doing great, but her energy level has changed. She gets tired a little bit faster and its harder for her to take all of them at the same time. If my kids need somewhere to go for the weekend or an overnight, I try to split up my kids so she can have a little one on one time with just one of them. Then it’s not so overwhelming. It’s ok to tell your grandchildren how you are feel, and what you can and can’t do with them. I think they will appreciate it. I know I did!

Side note from Grandma Colleen: We hope you get a kick out of our napping pictures. My brother, Weston (and Jane), have posted pictures on social media multiple times of me napping! It feels good to get him back!!! Ha! Ha! Weston, GOTCHA!
