Ready or not, here comes Thanksgiving! At GoodGrandma℠ we are working ahead to be ready before the feast. We prefer less stress, so we plan ahead. In addition to having a jump on food preparations, we will be able to give our full attention to two cute grand-daughters Wednesday night. We were asked to babysit Whitney and Raegan while Mom and Dad celebrate Mom’s birthday. Instead of spending Wednesday evening getting things set for dinner, we plan on playing with grandchildren! We like that activity best anyway!

In preparation for dinner, we started by put ingredients on the counter in recipe groupings. This way we know what we have left to make. The food items that need to bake and/or be served hot we will finish on Thursday morning. After our granddaughters go to bed we will get the turkey prepared to go in the oven first thing in the morning.

We also put up tables and chairs and set the tables. We are starting to feel more at ease and ready to enjoy ourselves on Thanksgiving Day. Planning ahead pays off! This year we will be hosting 38 friends and family members. Not our biggest crowd, but still plenty of fun!

One of our favorite traditions is making candy turkeys. The candy turkeys are placed by each place setting, adding to the decorations and a sweet treat after eating our Thanksgiving feast. This year Raegan helped us make them. It’s a yummy process.

We hope you and your family are ready for a fun and safe Thanksgiving holiday. At GoodGrandma, with the work out of the way, we are ready to PLAY!
